MM Discos marks its decade-long journey with a heartfelt compilation of over 30 tracks – a tribute to the artists who have defined its past and those who will shape its future. The label’s unique identity was forged in the chaotic, all-night sessions at its Erkstrasse 19 basecamp, a freedom that evolved into a philosophy of rejecting genres in favour of pure musical instinct. This anniversary celebrates that “no rules” ethos with a three-volume “sonic tutti-frutti,” beginning with a first instalment that rides a spectrum from laid-back grooves to upbeat, Balearic-tinged House rhythms.
As a highlight of the celebratory soirée, Pleasure Voyage’s “Puertas Del Cielo” perfectly embodies the label’s genre-fluid philosophy. The composition is a beautiful sun-drenched theme, built on a warm, undulating bassline that provides a foundation for ethereal melodies and subtly Latin-inflected percussion. Soaring synth lines evoke a sense of celestial ascent, living up to its title “Gates of Heaven,” while intricate textural details and an effortlessly cool groove ensure its dance-floor potency. It’s a sophisticated and immersive listen that confirms the duo’s distinctive flair for creating transportive anthems designed for open skies and open minds.
