Laust Foged makes a welcome return to the interesting Danish imprint HUSLY with “Ascenseur,” a well-constructed House Music jewel that feels like a beam of sunlight cutting across a darkened room. The Aalborg-based artist showcases his capabilities with a clear, smile-inducing intent, weaving together a vibrant tapestry of upbeat rhythms and luminous chords. The theme is polished and purposeful, engineered for communal celebration. This is music that communicates directly with the body, offering a pure, effervescent escape through its masterfully crafted groove and infectious harmonic warmth.
For his reinterpretation, label owner Kornum deliberately lowers the atmospheric pressure. By reducing the tempo, he trades the original’s direct sunrise for a mesmerising, slow-rolling sunset. His version dips the track’s core melody into the rich, colourful hues of Italo Disco, emerging with a new, captivating personality. The rhythm section gains a rubber-band elasticity, while the synths morph into wistful melodies buzzing with the charm of rediscovered vintage circuitry. The result is an Indie Dance cut that swaps open-air joy for a more intimate, after-hours magnetism. Foged’s creation invites a jubilant leap; Kornum’s asks for a smooth, confident glide across the floor. Get both!
You can find (and buy) this and other music pearls on the Beatport page of the label.
