The mighty Swedish outlet Club Mackan assembles a third volume of its A Retro Futuristic Collage series, gathering a cross‑section of producers who wander the intersection of Italo melody, Dark Disco pulse, and Trance‑inflected drift. The tracklist reads like a roll call of the current scene: Marcus Christiansen, the label boss himself, Reyk & Mike Sacchetti, Osccurate, Jo Kazan, TDWS, Alphanova, O.P.S., and Parissior, Celestino & SXDNS Soundsystem, just to name a few. Each brings a different temperature to the mix, yet the whole holds together under a shared affection for eighties colour and contemporary floor function. A compilation built not as a museum piece but as a working document of where this corner of dance music stands.
Premiered here, Jo Kazan’s “Not Alone” cuts through the collection with a particular kind of urgency. The track fuses Italo’s melodic reach with the hypnotic lift of early Trance, building a frame where deep synth layers unspool without ever crowding the mix. Throbbing arpeggios lock into a steady, pulsing rotation, each note landing with the precision of a sequencer set to its perfect tempo. Above it all, a melodic vocal threads through – clear, warm, and carrying just enough weight to anchor the arrangement. Kazan constructs a piece that moves between euphoria and restraint, never forcing its hand but always pulling the listener forward. A highlight on a compilation already full of them.
You can find (and buy) this and other music pearls on the Beatport page of the label.
