890 // Funboys – Krebs Cycle (Original Mix)

A super album by the one & only Funboys lands on Bonkers Music!

Funboys are a Norwegian-Australian-Belgian trio planted in Australia who refuse to sit quietly. Their recipe? A volatile brew of Techno, House, and Junglepunk, shaken across imprints like NEIN, La Belle, Club Sweat, Future Classic, Belly Dance Services, and Bonkers. Now they return to the latter with “Systems On,” an eight-track riot of their audacious signature. No hand-holding, no polite introductions: just a raw, sweaty showcase of a crew who treat genre boundaries as suggestions to crumple. This album lands like a mallet on a kick drum – direct, unpolished, and ready to fracture any expectation of what dance music from Australia should resemble.

Premiered here, “Krebs Cycle” steals the album’s spotlight with a bassline that behaves like a clenched fist. It pulsates, yes, but with a specific gait – Techno-driven with shards of Proto-Rave, something that drags you back to sticky floors before the 1990s had a name for the mess. Distorted synth layers smear across the rhythm like paint thrown in a dark room, each harmonic clash adding grit where others might add gloss. Funboys hijack a biology textbook term and reroute it into brute-force club weaponry. The low-end hammers without mercy; the high frequencies scrape your attention raw. The theme never pauses to catch its breath, nor does it ask permission to dominate a speaker cone. A proper highlight from a record that demands movement, not thought – just the way any honest rave should feel.

You can find (and buy) this and other music pearls on the Bandcamp page of the label.
