895 // Miss Zagato – Ophelia

Everyone, meet Ophelia, Miss Zagato's brand-new friend.

Miss Zagato empties her palette of all but the coldest hues on “Pallor,” a six‑track EP that finds the Dark Disco diva thriving in the grey hours between midnight and despair. Synths arrive soaked in a clammy, blue‑tinted glow, while her voice floats just above the shiver – never shouting, always leaning in close. This is music for spaces where the lights have dimmed to a failing amber, and everyone has stopped pretending to feel warm. Six cuts, each one a different kind of beautiful chill.

Premiered here, “Ophelia” channels the rhythmic drive of Disco, the rigid structure of EBM, and the romantic gloom of Dark Wave. The rhythm lands in clipped, mechanical thumps – straight, unforgiving, built for the body to lock into. Bass sequences crawl with a repetitive insistence, never speeding up, never slowing down. Synth pads stretch wide and cold, like fog over a forgotten industrial estate. Miss Zagato’s vocal cuts through in hushed, almost confrontational phrases – a warning delivered through clenched teeth, not a melody seeking comfort. Layers of distorted texture pile on without ever warming the air. The track refuses comfort; it stalks, circles, then pulls back, leaving a residue of static and longing. A perfect fit for the EP’s title, and arguably its most arresting moment. The pallor here arrives as a deliberate, gorgeous choice, not an accident.
