Nikita von Tiraspol is a traveller and an explorer, not only geographically but also musically. Every time he sets foot in a different spot on this crazy little blue dot we live on, something new is born. His brand-new “Nights In Tokyo,” coming soon on his very own Kontrapunkt, is further proof of his love for on-the-road collaborations. The EP revisits a creative partnership with local talent U-T; the duo previously captured their underground chemistry in the track “Maison Amper,” featured on last May’s release “Mumbles.” Born out of late-night sessions in Tokyo, this new package features three unique versions for three distinct nights, with Umehara delivering the third flavour to the collusion.

Premiered here, “Nikita’s Version” is a track that showcases the artist daring a deep, hypnotic dub approach. While U-T primes the peak-time dance floor with rhythmic energy on the package, the boss’s interpretation opts for a slower-burning, atmospheric construct perfectly tailored to open the club night. Nikita masterfully weaves in his own live & sexy trumpet sounds, adding a smoky, organic texture to the theme. Stripping back the elements to build a captivating groove, it emerges as an evocative exercise in tension and restraint, beautifully capturing the mysterious allure of Tokyo after dark.
