From the stages to the DJ booths, the Argentina-born, San Diego-based artist Nelzon is above all a music lover. He might still occasionally horse around with the guitar to remember his time playing in local bands, but since he discovered the mesmerising pace of House & Techno, he has been channelling his zeal into the 4×4 side of the force. Now wandering through the production realm, he manages to bring forward his 90s influences and combine them with some creative juice to deliver his vision of what dance music should sound like. His brand-new solo flight, “From The Pavement,” is coming out on the Buenos Aires-based imprint GFS Records as part of its H-Series and features five House-oriented cuts that blend warm grooves and hypnotic rhythms with subtle live elements, including recorded guitar textures (told you!).

Premiered here, the playfully named “Faraside” is an exciting and well-developed theme that showcases Nelzon’s capabilities. One of its main characteristics is its balance: Trippy, bouncing, acid… but just the right amount of everything. Nothing dominantly comes to the forefront; every element jumps in without making a fuss or a “hey, look at me and forget the rest” attitude – they play their respective parts with purpose and let their team effort do the rest. The result is a track that, yes, will draw attention during the peak time, but will do it in a sober and elegant way.
