Salon Records is making the most of the summer with a rather intriguing collection, bringing together three very different names from the electronic music landscape. Bruno Pronsato, Matthew Dear, and Rework each take charge of a two-track instalment, creating a series that moves freely between club sensibilities, songwriting, and a more experimental approach to Dance Music and Pop. What makes the concept particularly appealing is the contrast between the three contributors: rather than forcing them into a common sound, the series gives each artist room to express their own personality while exploring the connections between club music and song. Released progressively throughout the summer, the collection offers three distinct perspectives that nevertheless make perfect sense when placed side by side.

Premiered here, “Shelly Play The Bells (You Nasty Thing)” finds Bruno Pronsato in a wonderfully unhurried mood. Originally released on his 2024 “Acts!” album, where the Berlin-based producer explored a more sentimental and pop-leaning side of his sound, the track now makes a welcome appearance on Salon Records’ 7” series, finding a fitting new home for its wonderfully unhurried character. Its slow-moving rhythm, hazy vocal touches, and beautifully blurred chords create a woozy atmosphere that feels strangely intimate, with each detail adding to the track’s dreamy, slightly elusive character. Master Pronsato never pushes the song towards an obvious climax, instead letting its elements interact at their own pace and gradually drawing the listener deeper into its hazy world.
