117 // Yam Who?

It seems we are having another Disco Music bash on our spaceship! Boogie superstar Yam Who? (Midnight Riot Records) very much honours us with this beautiful selection of 70-ish vibes!

Yam Who? aka Andy Williams has been working his passion for musical disco innovation since the late ’80s, those formative years when the dance explosion swept the UK. Now running 3 record labels – Midnight Riot, Black Riot and Ism – he has recently signed to Glitterbox as Qwestlife alongside his partner in crime, Tom Laroye.

Most weekends, you’ll find him rocking the dance floor, DJing at clubs and festivals around the globe, including Glitterbox, Lovebox, Ministry Of Sound, Horse Meat Disco, Love International, Glastonbury and the legendary Pikes in Ibiza, playing alongside Greg Wilson, Joey Negro, Purple Disco Machine, Danny Krivit and Crazy P – to name just a few.

For the past 2 years, he’s been the Mixmag disco editor, providing a cutting-edge platform for the disco, boogie and house modern scene.

As a producer/remixer from the early Nuphonic nu-disco generation in the mid-’90s as Fuzz Against Junk (check DJ Harvey’s remix of their ‘Born Under Punches’) and then onto Yam Who? in 2003, he was pivotal in the emergence of the worldwide edit scene.

Over the years he has remixed and added his fever to the likes of Pharrell Williams, Joss Stone, Grace Jones, John Legend, Kanye West and countless others. In 2016, he released the critically acclaimed album ‘Motor City Booty’ on Midnight Riot with long term collaborator, Detroit’s Amp Fiddler, and since 2010 has been the producer for legendary NYC disco band Odyssey.
