The interesting US-based imprint New Human Music presents its next chapter with the latest outing from XANIMAL – a project intent on fusing a throwback nostalgia with sonics reminiscent of the golden age of music and film. Anchored by the incredible vocal of the original mix, “Love Axis” delivers a collection of remixes, made with love by Christian Webb, Dave Allison, Ilya Santana (SXDNS072), and Mural, which reinterpret its vibrant, synth-driven core in various directions. Imagine an iconic voice drifting through a studio session, layered over a bed of shimmering synths and thumping basslines – a true musical experience where different aesthetics collide and morph effortlessly throughout.

While the original captures XANIMAL’s vision, crafting a statement through its lyrics, a fleeting yet profound moment of connection, unfolding a story against a classic 80s-inspired backdrop that is deeply rooted in the artists’ shared experiences growing up in that decade, maestro Ilya Santana’s interpretation goes in another direction and amplifies the Cosmic Italo elements, transforming the theme into a Space-Disco journey.
