694 // Procida Ritual Project – Golfo

This remarkable release by Procida Ritual Project is coming soon on Salgari Records.

Procida Ritual Project was conceived by Pier Paolo Polcari, composer, producer, and co-founder of the iconic Italian World/Trip Hop band Almamegretta, together with the artist Leonardo Scotto di Monaco, scholar of local traditions, and the musicians Daniele Ubik (sax, percussion, hang, and voices) and Marzouk Mejri (darbuka, Tunisian flute, voices, and percussion).

It is a project developed within the “Procida Capital of Culture 2022” EU program and was born with the aim of valuing tradition, protecting the past by projecting it into the future, preserving identities, making generations talk to each other and, above all, saving the enormous intangible cultural heritage of the island of Procida from extinction.

One of the fruits of such a beautiful joint effort is “Misteri”, an album filled with culture and tradition, distilling its magic through eight true eclectic journeys, coming soon on the interesting Turin-based label Salgari Records in digital and vinyl formats. The amazing artwork is by Federico Spini, who reworked the valuable photographic material by Roberta Riccio, in which the “Turchini” are portrayed during the Good Friday procession.

Premiered here, “Golfo” develops its message by presenting a rich combination of elements such as rhythmic percussive lines, mesmerising flute leads, and dreamy synth pads, resulting in a complex and mysterious Balearic theme.

You can find (and buy) this and other music pearls on the Bandcamp page of the label.
