881 // Ficus – A New Energy (Original Mix)

Dope Tones Records proudly launches DUB Tones Series with Ficus on debut duty.

DUB Tones launches as Dope Tones’ new outlet for bass weight and low-end pressure. Ficus anchors the first release, setting a tone that the label intends to build on. Illektré, Helixir, and Duba round out the package, each bringing their own approach to the source. The result is a debut that feels less like a beginning and more like picking up where something important left off – a sound that never really disappeared, just waited for the right hands to guide it back.

Premiered here, the title track moves with the unhurried authority of a system settling into its natural frequency. The half-time swing locks hips into a slow, deliberate sway, while garage-tinged chords drift through like light filtering through a basement window. There’s a roots dub sensibility running underneath – not as quotation, but as instinct, the kind of weight that arrives before the kick even hits. Ficus builds the track patiently, letting each element breathe before the next enters. The result is a cut that knows exactly when to push and when to hold, engineered for rooms where the sub matters more than the spotlight.

You can find (and buy) this and other music pearls on the Bandcamp page of the label.
