The British imprint NEIN Records needs no introduction. Responsible for some of the most crucial releases when it comes to Dark Disco/Indie Dance, the curation made by label boss Neil Parnell – aka Tronik Youth (SXDNS050) – is (in)famous for its rigour and accuracy. That said, rest assured their next release is another must-have. “Bird Lagoon EP” by Durand (SXDNS079) is no exception. Besides three solid originals, the EP brings two stunning remixes provided by Mordisco and Disco Morato (SXDNS147). The latter’s collaboration was the chosen one to be premiered, by the way.
His interpretation of “Red Nist” cannot be defined differently than intense. The disco-ish introduction works perfectly as a proper bait to bring you into a journey through more obscure textures and sonorities, starting with the powerful and ominous bassline. Arpeggiated acid and percussive layers set the pace, while the video-game-like lead seems to put you into a trance. Despite the low BPM – 108, to be more accurate –, the intensity of the elements Master Morato put together in his remix will make you move your body faster and deeper. Surrender your mind to this amazing tune, and let it go!
You can find (and buy) this and other music pearls on the Bandcamp page of the label.
