Premiere

129 // Back From The Wave – Banlieu Rouge (Original Mix)

The first premiere of our anniversary week brings a super track by Back From The Wave from his forthcoming release on Nein Records.

Fred Rodrigues aka Back From The Wave is back to Nein Records. This would suffice for our review, but let’s extend it a little further, shall we? The seasoned French DJ and producer, whenever immersed into his gear, puts in good use his many an influence, especially the ones he amassed listening countless hours to new and cold wave music and early post-punk bands. Even during the hard times we have been living in, the focus of his works is on the dance floor, producing Electro, Techno, Synthwave, and Dark Disco, the very same genres he plays in his DJ sets. Previously seen on other vital labels such as Esthétique, Critical Monday, Espacio Cielo, and Hold Your Ground, BFTW’s forthcoming EP, “Speak With The Devil”, bring three crushing originals and two banging remixes provided by rising Turkish duo Fat & Bald and Nein’s supreme emperor Tronik Youth (SXDNS050).

The track we decided to review, “Banlieu Rouge”, named after a 1981 punk French song, is undoubtedly one of the best tunes of the year so far. Intense, vibrant, energetic, Fred spared no efforts and delivered a true masterpiece. The funky bass, the synth lead, the robot-like vocal hook… everything matched perfectly! If Fred really spoke with the devil while producing his EP, he must have made a hell of an agreement with the wicked one. The release is infernal!

You can find (and buy) this and other music pearls on the Bandcamp page of the label.
