283 // Ivan De La Rouch & Mike Sacchetti – Salvation

London-based Khoinix releases its first compilation with an interesting combination of new faces & established artists amid the Dark Disco scene. We reviewed Ivan De La Rouch & Mike Sacchetti's contribution to the occasion.

The thing is: Ivan De La Rouch (FREEDL022/032) & Mike Sacchetti (SXDNS168/FREEDL023) should start a rock band. “Salvation”, their contribution to the forthcoming compilation of the London-based label and party series Khoinix, is extremely and heavily influenced by Post-Punk and Industrial, featuring riveting guitar riffs, melancholic vocals (the way we like), and a Siouxsie and the Banshees meet Joy Division aura. Shards of New Order’s synthpop can be also found in the theme and bring to it its club vibe.

The fifteen-track Dark Disco VA release, “Tartarus”, fails to disappoint with its exquisite selection of artists: Besides Ivan & Mike, Alpha Sect, Arrosa, Attendances (SXDNS223), Csk (SXDNS088), Disco Morato (SXDNS147), Disco Mortale, Facets, Gegen Mann (SXDNS220/FREEDL031), Ian Lapa, Itako, K-Effect (SXDNS062), Ruksby (SXDNS256), Ubre Blanca, and Tulioxi (SXDNS049) brought their inputs to the party – and what a party! The soundscape of the compilation encompasses many influences and textures, providing a cut for every single lover of the dark sounds out there.

Interesting Fact: In Greek mythology, “Tartarus” (Ancient Greek: Τάρταρος) is the deep abyss that is used as a dungeon of torment and suffering for the wicked.

You can find (and buy) this and other music pearls on the Bandcamp page of the label.
