Slowly but fiercely, the Spanish label Banshees Records has been carving in stone its place among the most interesting platforms devoted to the dark side of music – aka Dark Disco, Cold Wave, EBM, Industrial & whatnot. Curated by Toledo-based producer Israel Padilla, the imprint has – since its beginning in 2021 – already featured some of the best artists in the game such as Curses, Kendal, Parissior (SXDNS206/FREEDL043), Silicodisco, and Jennifer Touch (SXDNS022). For its forthcoming episode to be released in digital and cassette, Banshees presents “Mistakes Of The Mind”, a 7-track EP by Cobrawave divided into five furious originals (one in collaboration with Mimmo) and two blazing remixes made with love by David Carretta and the label boss himself. Premiered here, the former’s collaboration.

And who on Earth is Cobrawave? He is the new alter ego of prolific and skilled Italian producer Futuristant (FREEDL042), and his main focus is on industrial and acid atmospheres exploited through powerful and raw cuts. You will definitely notice such sonority on his showcase debut EP.

Let’s get back to David’s remix, shall we? He respectfully kept many elements of the original but daringly brought the theme to a more “peak time” realm, especially due to the incredible bouncing bassline he added. His interpretation is somewhat brighter and punchier, although still acid and dark. A version that says, “stop dancing with your shadow and dance with me!” – undoubtedly, one of the highlights of the ace release!
