350 // Zaatar زَعْتَر – Die Zeit Rennt

La Bonne Fête releases its first VA, and we had the pleasure of reviewing Zaatar زَعْتَ's contribution.

We are always eager to review this kind of release: A compilation from a brand-new label featuring various artists that we never heard about before. This usually presents itself as an opportunity to explore a completely different universe of influences and soundscapes. And the first volume of the VA series “La Bonne Fête” coming soon on the namesake Lille-based imprint failed to disappoint our expectations: The local heroes summoned by the label – Stazzia & Sensei, Lüma-G & Uzly, Pilú, Alma Marceau, Zaatar زَعْتَر, Transgression, Ghaïs La Malice, Pathyroide, and JoTabass – spared no efforts to deliver well-produced and highly-danceable cuts encompassing a wide range of genres such as House Music, Acid House, Rave, (Hard) Techno, Cold Wave, and Dark Disco.

Premiered here, Zaatar زَعْتَ’s contribution is definitely one of the highlights of the release. A darkness-infused theme that showcases the talent of the beginner producer. Its ominous and acid atmosphere, brought about by shadowy synth pads and the Count Dracula-like vocals – will certainly please bats and dark groove lovers out there.

You can find (and bus) this and other music peals on the Bandcamp page of the label.
