Oscar Avendaño is Levantine, one of the most prominent Mexican artists of his generation. Songwriter, music producer, and DJ, Oscar has as his main source of inspiration the crazy hotchpotch of sonorities that emerged from the glorious “Madchester” times. Post-punk, Indie Rock, Synthpop, Acid House, and early Rave get the company of French House, Trance, and Italo Disco during his studio sessions, resulting in high-stamina tracks filled with heavy doses of synthesizers and arpeggios. Exploited Club, Epicure, Mélopée, About Disco, theBasement Discos, and Kyma Komplex are just a few examples of the many labels on which his music has been published.
He is now back on the latter with another incursion into the dark realm: The “Polysentimento” EP presents three masterclass originals and two equally outstanding remixes made with love by Manu Barcelo (SXDNS344) and Cometran.
Premiered here, “Dangerous Rhythm” cannot be defined otherwise: It is a peak-time beast wrapped with all the elements you could possibly expect from Levantine’s full pack as aforementioned. The punchy attitude, mischievous behaviour, and stark bearing make the theme present itself with an “I am the one who knocks” message. Dangerous indeed.
You can find (and buy) this and other music pearls on the Bandcamp page of the label.
Follow Levantine and Kyma Komplex, peeps!
