753 // Roliva & Marito Ramirez – LEGO (Mahkina Remix)

Have you ever felt like everything is falling apart, like a Lego set that never comes back the same? That's exactly what Roliva & Marito Ramirez refer to in their new collaboration coming soon on Nativo.

Roliva (SXDNS379) & Marito Ramirez’s collaborative single, released via Nativo, unpacks the chaos of disintegration with a playful yet poignant edge, channelling the frustration of a Lego universe crumbling beyond repair. The duo merges Roliva’s Culiacán-rooted affinity for gritty analog textures and acidic flourishes with Marito’s pop sensibilities, creating a track that’s as introspective as it is danceable. Framed by the metaphor of a collapsing game, the song navigates themes of fragmentation and renewal, juxtaposing Marito’s wry, tongue-in-cheek lyricism against Roliva’s squelching synths and percussive grit. It’s a bittersweet anthem for impermanence, where melancholic undertones ripple beneath fizzy, kinetic production, capturing the messy beauty of rebuilding from chaos.

The accompanying EP expands the narrative with remixes by Mahkina (FREEDL038), Mundo D, and Prince Terrible, though Mahkina’s rework steals the spotlight. His take strips the original to its emotional core: Marito’s vocals float atop hazy, tape-warped chords and muted breakbeats, evoking a faded Polaroid of ’90s downtempo nostalgia. Layered with wistful piano motifs and a gauzy, lo-fi finish, the remix transforms the track into a twilight meditation – proof that even in collapse, there’s space for tender reflection. A masterclass in restraint, Mahkina’s version amplifies the EP’s thematic heart while honouring Nativo’s penchant for curating releases that blur genre boundaries.
