There are some characters and labels so intertwined with the story of specific music genres that is virtually impossible to discuss them without mentioning the importance and relevance of such masterminds and imprints. Take the so-called Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene for instance. We dare you to talk about it without bringing up Sir Neil Parnell aka Tronik Youth (SXDNS050) and his mighty platform NEIN Records during your music talks.

With a behemoth of a catalogue overflowing with dark cuts, NEIN is undoubtedly one of the most vital outlets in the dark side of music. Neil is equally impressive, distilling his creativity with a plethora of originals and collaborations throughout his career of twenty-something years. Having a NEIN-only year so far, he brings to life his third EP of the year and invited Fred Berthet and Calystarr for the remix duties. Premiered here, the latter’s contribution.

Adrián Peña Sánchez aka Calystarr is a DJ and producer from Chiclana de la Frontera, Cádiz. For his third appearance on NEIN, his mission of providing an interpretation for the big boss must have been a tough one – but nothing that would make the skilled Spanish virtuoso have cold feet. His complex and stark version brings together a few of his main influences, resulting in an intricate concoction of Cold Wave, EBM, and Industrial with a kind of spooky aura.
