Our new premiere comes from the Spanish label Veneno. Slowly, they have been drawing attention with solid releases from promising Latino talents. Their next release, for instance, brings remixes from Sixtoaugusto (SXDNS031), Pvlomo (SXDNS098), Alvee, Mad Slow and Umvral to the track YCYN by Roberto Guzman aka Guzzx.
The ominous atmosphere of the track has a very obvious explanation: Before starting to produce it, Guzzx watched a horror movie that left monster voices and fearsome sounds banging on his head. He himself decided to sing and distort his own voice instead of looking for haunting vocals on the web. The result could not have been better! That’s why he easily amassed a dream team of remixers to obtain different interpretations of his scary experience.
The remix we picked up to premiere was competently made by Umvral. Exploring his Dark Disco and Techno influences and combining them with acid elements, his approach focused on a throbbing bassline and the energetic arpeggio layers. “With the rhythmic base, I didn’t have much problem, I just loaded the elements and began to experience a base for the intro and the interlude, and another dynamic for the drops”, he said. He also considered a very important highlight of his version the strong influence he absorbed from Ali X’s latest release on Controlla – The Pig! – from which we had the pleasure of premiering Fausto’s remix for “Backlash”.
You can find (and buy) this and other music pearls on the Beatport page of the label.
