361 // Ozur Crystal – Old Radio (Original Mix)

With remixes by Machinegewehr and Palamara, Brazilian artist Ozur Crystal makes his debut on Mélopée Records.

The little owl is back! The respected French label Mélopée Records opens its doors for its fourth Brazilian artist this year: Ozur Crystal showcases some brilliant and refreshing producing skills with “Perc Allucination”, an extremely well-constructed EP that boldly floats on the agitated waters of Italo Disco, Dark Disco, Classic House, and Indie Dance. The newcomer is not sailing alone, though. Machinegewehr (SXDNS150) and Palamara brought their own visions for the title track and “Same Boat”, respectively.

With appearances on interesting labels such as Dear Deer, Mumbai Records, and Voltaire Music, Ozur is definitely not afraid of exploiting his many influences in order to deliver his own vision of the message dance-floor-oriented cuts must convey. His “Perc Allucination” proves the point: Besides being the result of the combination of many a genre, the EP draws the attention for its originality. Probably because of the pinches of Latinity and “Brasilidade” he added in the concoction.

The track we were solicited to review brings Ozur fooling around with a mischievous cowbell that paired magnificently with the trippy, melodic, and kind of emotive style of the theme. The beautiful synth layers, the dreamy pads, and the Holy-Moly bassline set the mood of one of the best tracks of the year so far – yes, we mean it!

You can find (and buy) this and other music pearls on the Bandcamp page of the label.
