After his frenzied “Power From Universe” reached the Golden Soul Records’ Top 10 on Beatport, the doors of the Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene were opened for Adrián Calystarr. The peak-time aura of the mighty and trippy theme is definitely something – look it up, buy it, and play it loud for a packed dance floor whenever you have the opportunity. Thank us later!

He now lands on the Spanish powerhouse Espacio Cielo with a solid and well-constructed EP divided into two dark-matter-infused originals and two cutting-throat remixes made with love by When Disco Goes Wrong’s Högt I Tak (SXDNS179) and label boss Parissior (SXDNS206/FREEDL043/ BANDCAMP002), who brought their respective sonorities to the party: Expect, then, Italo and Acid interpretations – aka the icing on the cake.

The track we chose to review presents itself in a more circumspect way in comparison to the aforementioned banger that introduced us to Adrián’s work. “Reborn” builds up its message step by step, starting with the rhythmic percussive elements – snares, rimshots, claps –, followed by the harmonic soulful layers – pads, synths, leads. Everything in the right place, like a puzzle that slowly has its pieces successfully assembled, resulting in a sober but energetic tune also entitled to be played loud for a packed dance floor.
