The respected Madrid-based Sagan Club collective started its beautiful journey nine years ago. In order to celebrate the occasion, they decided to put together a four-volume compilation series, coming soon on Cenital Music, featuring some of the artists who have already rocked the boat and set the roof on fire at their previous memorable events: Delone, JackWasFaster (SXDNS219), LagreSca, and Hyman Bass, one of the resident DJs and founders of the collective, brought their own worlds to the first chapter, following a backbone soundscape but keeping true to their own characteristic sonorities and focusing on what really matters: Keeping the dance floor happy, baby!

Premiered here, JackWasFaster’s collaboration definitely raises the bar of the already solid compilation. The interesting title, “Ora Et Labora” – or “pray and work” in English –, refers to the Catholic monastic practice of working and praying – and Jack worked hard and meticulously to deliver such a mind-blowing cut. Did he pray? No idea. The important is the outcome: The gripping vocal hook, rhythmic synth lead, and exhilarating acid layer he put together deliver a powerful and imperative theme.
