Coming soon on the cool British label Paisley Dark, a homage to Fitzroy Avenue in the form of high-quality electronic music made with love and expertise by the Warriors of The Dystotheque, an alliance of transatlantic low-fi fanatics and leftfield DJ/Producers whose sonority comes from a dystopic future where truly bad taste is outlawed. Featuring vocals by Irish poet/facilitator Joe Duggan, who has previously worked with the late Andrew Weatherall on the Woodleigh Research Facility project, “Fitzroy Avenue” is a stomping cut with a menacing and acid aura. For the remix duties, the single was twisted and retwisted by an incredible team of collaborators: Mindbender (BANDCAMP003), Högt I Tak (SXDNS179), Jezebellfast, Hunterbräu, and Ed Mahon (SXDNS068), just to name a few.
Premiered here, the insightful interpretation delivered by Marten ‘Mindbender’ Attling, one of When Disco Goes Wrong bosses, brought the original to the good ol’ House Music realm. Listening to his mesmerising version transported us to the party in 47 Fitzroy and made us stay there despite the warm flat beer. An event with bad beer is not a problem, we can handle it, but with the condition the music is good – that’s what is happening here.
You can find (and buy) this and other music pearls on the Bandcamp page of the label.
