Our last premiere in 2022 featured Sphynx People’s contribution to the first volume of Sonido Moderna’s “Hybrid Colony”. Now we have the opportunity of reviewing another cut from the multiculti series, this time the result of the collaboration between Chicharron & Bruno May, who delivered an upbeat and insightful theme to the second episode of the VA. Also on board: Casta & Vonnie Villatoro, Ludviq & Poulper (SXDNS146/FREEDL028), Mike Rowave, Theus Mago (SXDNS056), and Fabio Me Llaman Soltero (SXDNS187), yes, exactly: the label boss and Guatemala’s president himself.
Premiered here, “Wolfgang Bang” is one of those tracks whose genre-definition process can be a harsh one. Its complexity and structure are meant for defying the music retailers out there when it comes to pigeonholing it precisely. With a bouncing bassline, enticing speech-like vocals, and rhythmic percussive elements, Chicharron & Bruno May’s work is, above all, a high-quality and daring electronic music piece – not a peak-time banger, but undoubtedly a secret weapon for smart dance floors. Boldness at its best!
You can find (and buy) this and other music pearls on the Bandcamp page of the label.
